Six individuals have been arrested and a significant quantity of drugs, drug paraphernalia, cell phones, and a prohibited weapon were seized during the execution of search warrants at two different locations in Peterborough last Thursday.
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Peterborough Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit led the operation, with support from the Tactics and Rescue Unit, the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, City of Kawartha Lakes CSCU, and members of Peterborough County Detachment of the OPP uniform members.
The individuals arrested and their charges include:
Kian SMITH (age 31) of St. Hubert, QC:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than Heroin)
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime-under $5000 – in Canada
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – other Drugs
- Possession of Prohibited device or ammunition for Dangerous Purpose
Elvis ATTA (age 23) of Toronto, ON:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than Heroin)
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime-under $5000 – in Canada
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – other Drugs
Both accused were held for Bail and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
Alexis IRWIN (age 30) of Selwyn Township, ON:
- Arrested on outstanding Firearm and Drug related warrants
- Held for Bail and scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
Gregory WEDEMIRE (age 40) of Peterborough, ON:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than Heroin)
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
- The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on November 7th.
Kyle BARKER (age 38) and James LOWES (age 57) of no fixed address:
- Arrested on outstanding warrants
- Released with a new court date.
The operation was part of the ongoing efforts by police to maintain public safety and combat illicit activities in the area.
