It will be remembered as a transition year at Strathroy-s Aquatic Park and recreational programming. Supervisor of Recreation Programs Paul Lattimore says the 2023 season saw a healthy increase in public swim numbers. A total of 16,425 swims were recorded this year, up from 14,653 in 2022.
Lattimore says they enjoyed a record number of participants for swim lessons as well.
An important addition this year, according to Lattimore, were all-access passes.
With a steady and impressive increase in users since the pandemic, the Aquatic Park saw 16,425 users this summer. He says people are embracing the facility and the numbers tell the story.
To date there have been 1961 recreational program registrations this year which includes seniors programming, where in 2022 they had a total of 2038 registrations. As far as municipal summer camps, it was the highest participation since camps began in 2017 with 1988 participants in 2023 up 487 from 2022.
