The Peterborough Police Service hosted a town hall meeting on Monday at the Healthy Planet Arena Banquet Hall.
The primary focus of the event was Chief Stuart Betts’ presentation on the 2024 budget.
During the presentation, Chief Betts highlighted several key points, including the growing demands on frontline officers and investigators, acknowledgment of the dedication and hard work of police officers, civilians, and volunteers, the significant volume of 9-1-1 calls requesting police assistance (revealing that 55% of 9-1-1 calls fall into this category), the positive impact of the Mobile Crisis Intervention Teams, and the ongoing commitment to meeting community expectations regarding safety.
The town hall meeting was open to all members of the community, providing an opportunity for residents to gain insights into the police service’s priorities and financial planning for the upcoming year.
