It’s the end of the line for paper bags at your local LCBO.
The Liquor Control Board of Ontario has stopped issuing them out as of Tuesday after encouraging customers to bring or buy reusable bags in late April.
The provincial retailer estimates this will remove about 135 million paper bags from its stores each year.
That’s 2,655 tonnes of waste from landfill and the equivalent of saving more than 188,000 trees.
Free eight-pack carriers and boxes will remain available at retail and convenience stores.
