Today myFM is celebrating local coaches and the impact they’ve had on athletes in Strathroy-Caradoc with our Hooray for Coaches Day feature, presented by Pete’s Sports.
Each coach we spoke with has had their own impact on the community and the residents in it.
That’s the case for Paulo Ferreira who coaches with the Strathroy United Football Club.
A number of youth sign up each year in the various age groups offered through Strathroy United FC, in order to play a game that is widely recognised around the world- Soccer.
Ferreira explains about how he first got involved with coaching.
Since then Ferreira has grown a passion for coaching kids and seeing how they grow as not only players but as people.
He also says he has picked up unique tricks over time in order to keep kid engaged and wanting to play the game.
Ferreira also note it is important to get into the mindset of the kids who are playing.
Coaching local sports teams doesn’t come without it challenges and Ferreira says some are harder than others to navigate.
