
Middlesex County OPP, Middlesex-London Paramedic Service, and Southwest Middlesex Fire responded to a severe, single vehicle collision on Dundonald Road in Thames Centre just after 10:00 p.m. on August 23rd.
The collision occurred when the roadway beneath a transport truck collapsed while it was in transit on Dundonald Road.
The incident was caused by the roadway being compromised due to heavy rainfall from significant storms that swept through the area.
The water levels were unusually high during this time.
The driver, a 59-year-old individual from Mississauga, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team was present at the site to provide assistance in the ongoing investigation.
Due to the extent of the damage and necessary repairs, Dundonald Road has been shut down and is anticipated to remain closed for approximately one to two weeks while county road authorities work on restoring the roadway.
