As we know, hometown hockey player from the London Knights and resident of Mount Brydges, Easton Cowan was selected 28th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs last month at the NHL Draft. The five-foot-11, forward had 20 goals and 33 assists in 68 regular-season games with the Knights this past year before adding 9 goals and 12 assists in 20 playoff games. He told myFM it was unbelievable being drafted by Toronto.
He has some time off now before heading to camp and a prospects tournament and when asked about advice for young and promising hockey players in the minor hockey system, he had some great words to share.
Cowan is in good company, the last three Maple Leafs 1st round selections from the London Knights were Darryl Sittler 8th overall in 1970, Nazem Kadri 7th overall in 2009, and Mitch Marner 4th overall in 2015.
