Trent University’s alumni chancellor has been named a member of the Order of Canada.
Dr. Stephen Stohn, who graduated from Trent in 1969, went on to achieve fame as the executive producer of the Degrassi television franchise, winning 14 Canadian Screen Awards along the way. Stohn also served as executive producer of the Juno Awards for 20 years.
In addition, as an entertainment lawyer, he has represented some of Canada’s most successful artists.
Appointed Trent’s 12th chancellor and the university’s second alumni chancellor in 2019, Stohn was re-appointed in 2021. In recognition of his philanthropic support for Trent, Stohn Hall in the Trent’s Student Centre is named in his honour.
