What was being billed as yet another protested event turned into one of support and inclusion as the Strathroy Library hosted a drag storytime event Saturday in Strathroy. The block of the library was blocked off, police presence was there along with municipal councillors and supporters for the event and the LGBTQ2+ community both outside and a very busy inside of the Library. Lindsay Brock Director of Library Services for Middlesex County says the support was definitely there.
Brock says this event has been around for years and the Libraries in the County are pleased to provide a safe environment for all.
Mayor Colin Grantham was on hand supporting the event and says pre-planning helps to prevent any negativity.
Strathroy Pride Director Frank Emanuele says it was great to see the event supported.
Emanuele added the biggest issues with these events are simply the uneducated and the lack of asking the right questions.
Strathroy’s Pride in the Park event comes our way July 8th in Alexandra Park.
