Strathroy-Caradoc Council unanimously voted recently to implement some traffic calming measures north of Pannell Lane after much public feedback over traffic volume, speed and safety issues. These measures come in the form of added stop signs and also the addition of speed humps. At the March 6th, 2023 Council Meeting, Council requested a report back on traffic analysis north of Pannell Lane. Councillor Steve Pelkman says he has heard plenty of public feedback on the issues.
Director of Engineering and Public Works Jake Strauss told council that there are some all-way stops that will be implemented.
In 2022, the Municipality purchased Traffic Counters that staff plan to put out this summer. Director Strauss told council that the locations of the stop signs and speed humps are based on council feedback as staff did not have the supporting data to make a recommendation. He added what was not on the photo myFM has obtained are all-way stops at the intersections of Head and Thorn Streets as well as at Middlesex and Darcy Drives. The Traffic Calming Policy was adopted by the municipality as part of its transportation master plan.
