A theft of gas turned into a search warrant which then turned into a seizure of firearms and drugs. Strathroy-Caradoc Police recently put out a report about stolen gas involving a pick-up. Members of the Munsee-Delaware First Nation, Chippewas of the Thames First Nation and Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation Police Services received the report and found the vehicle that matched the report. Two vehicles fled, but one got stuck and 3 people were arrested. A search of the vehicle showed a large amount of fentanyl.
The Ontario Provincial Police, Elgin-Middlesex Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), executed a search warrant at an address on Jubilee Road, Chippewas of the Thames First Nation. Three more people were found in a mobile trailer. Police also found two long guns, one that was loaded, ammunition, methamphetamine and more fentanyl. They also found an all-terrain vehicle that was stolen from Elgin County. An addendum of charged parties is included.
Six people have been charged with several offenses. They range in age from 24 to 25 years-old. Charges include property obtained by crime over $5000, possession for the purpose of trafficking and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
