Today is International Women’s Day and myFM honours all women from all walks of life. We are able to sit with Cheryl Losch, Manager of Fund Development with the Women’s Rural Resource Centre here in Strathroy. She says Women everywhere deserve to be celebrated.
myFM was also able to catch up with Strathroy-Caradoc Mayor Colin Grantham who says there is still more that can be done to celebrate women.
Losch goes on to say that empowered women, can change the world.
The programs at the WRRC have been running well. The Healing Program in particular has been a huge success. Right now, the WRRC is running at full capacity and is still working through pandemic struggles. However, the doors are open 24/7 to whom ever may need a little extra support. The 24/7 emergency shelter and crisis line is still running as well. There is also counseling and support as well as child and youth programs for women and children impacted by gender based violence in Middlesex County. Mayor Grantham acknowledges that society has come a long way in supporting women and having their voices heard, but there is still more that men can do.
The WRRC Crisis line is 1-800-265-5390, for more information on the WRRC, please visit wrrcsa.org
