The Southwest Middlesex Fire Department has a new Chief. Gary Johnston has been on the Fire Department for just about 20 years now. It was a natural progression for him, as he worked his way to Captain, District Deputy Chief, Deputy Chief and now to Chief. He tells myFM he plans on improving safety and efficiency to the community.
Previous Fire Chief Colin Shewell resigned from the position, and Johnston originally got started in fire services in neighboring Newbury.
Johnston has a goal of improving efficiency to the public, as well as the firefighters within the department.
