Budget season means local councils will have to make some tough decisions, and the Municipality of Adelaide Metcalfe is no different. Following a council meeting in December, a three percent cost of living increase is coming to the fire services, staff and council members. In total this is an increase of almost $35,000 to the budget.
Some other big ticket items include a new snow plow which is slated to cost over $357,000, $5000 for the Kerwood Adelaide Metcalfe Optimist Club, and the Municipality is now paying for the full cost of fire uniforms. As in the case of every budget, some requests will not be able to be accommodated.
myFM has learned that a grant request of over $9000 from the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation, as well as a $5000 request from Four Counties Health Services Foundation have both been turned down.
