The past year has truly been unlike any other.
At the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, Covid was still very much at the door step, says Ed Wheatly, Chief Operating Officer at SMGH Foundation.
He also tells myFM that this year there were lot’s of upgrades to their diagnostic imaging department.
Wheatly says going into 2023, they are excited for their Building foundations Project in partnership with the Construction Tech Program at Holy Cross School and the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc where they will build 2 semi-detached homes on Brennan Dr. and sell them. All proceeds will go back to the foundation.
The Hospital Auxiliary has also opened back up. The store is open and is a great place to check out. Java Hut will also hopefully be opening in the near future.
Gifts that were given to SMGH last year allowed them to purchase a new mammography machine, which brings better images and faster service.
SMGH also acquired a new diagnostic imaging suit. They range in price from $700,000 to $1 Million. the old equipment was dated and the new equipment allows less radiation, better wait times, and quality images.
The Hospital Foundation is now working towards getting 3 new ultrasound machines to improve service and wait times even more.
Wheatly says for 2023, they are looking forward to the Building Foundations Project in partnership with the Construction Tech Program at Holy Cross School and the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc.
Wheatly would like to thank the people who are helping make this project happen: Joe at JF Homes, Jaclyn Costa at Synergy Realty, the team at Moffat and Powell, AGM Surveyors, and all the other amazing partners involved.
