With back to school upon us and a small shortage of crossing guards, the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc has installed a special light in the North end according to Director of Engineering and Public Works Jake Strauss.
It also effects Darcy Drive at Head Street as well. These lights supplement warning signs at pedestrian crossings, and utilize a flashing pattern similar to emergency vehicles to let drivers know there is a pedestrian using the crosswalk. Drivers are encouraged to be alert and reduce speed in areas with crosswalks. Drivers are required to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk, even when a beacon light is not activated.
