Strathroy-Caradoc Fire department responded to a structure fire late Monday night on Adelaide Street in Mt Brydges where smoke and flames were visible. Station #2 was the first truck on scene and after the fire was contained, a search of the building was conducted and air sampling and hot spots were investigated. The building was ventilated and then turned over to the owner. Both stations 1 and 2 answered the call, 25 firefighters responded and the origin of the fire was the Alpha/Bravo exterior corner of the building. The cause according to Fire Chief Brent Smith was weeds being burned around the perimeter of the building shortly before the fire was reported. Damage is estimated at $45,000.
