The road to connecting Strathroy’s Brennan Drive to new future residential development on the lands to the West through a road extension continued this week at council. The extension itself is in support of the proposed development of six lots at 61 Brennan Drive as part of the Municipality’s commitment to support the hospital foundation and CAO Fred Tranquilli says that will mean an annual Foundation monetary donation will end for the next few years.
The work consists of extension of Municipal water and sanitary services, extension of the road including a temporary turning circle at the end and extension of the Municipal sidewalk. The Road Extension tender was posted publicly on the Bids & Tenders website on May 18th, 2022, and closed June 2nd with three bids received, with Council approving Monday to be awarded to Cope Construction & Contracting Inc. for the amount of $379,055.95 plus HST.
The tender results including HST are as follows:

2. 2044970 Ontario Inc. o/a All Seasons Excavating $381,268.78
3. 2376378 Ontario Corp. o/a C.H Excavating (2013) $473.164.57
The project development process included various public consultations including:
• Reports to Council on March 15th 2021 and April 19th, 2021
• Notice of Public meeting circulated to residents within 120 metres of the subject property on August 16, 2021
• Various Project Team site reviews in 2021
The tender bids were reviewed in consultation with:
· Spriet Associates
· Manager of Public Works
· Director of Finance/Treasurer
· Director of Engineering & Public Works
· Senior Development Coordinator
The project will be funded from reserves. The Municipality has annually committed to contributing $100,000.00 to Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation to assist the foundation achieve its fundraising goals. The total project costs will represent the annual donation for
approximately 4 years depending on the final costs.
