The Salvation Army Strathroy is going through a restructuring as news came out last week via a letter from Major Jason Dannock. The letter said for a number of years, the Salvation Army in Strathroy has operated as a Foodbank and Thrift Store. In addition to the Foodbank, they have offered seasonal programming such as tax clinics, back to school, winter clothing and Christmas hampers and toys.
Dannock writes the Salvation Army feels that they need to be doing more for the community than just offering these programs. They now will be looking to implement additional programming under their Community and Family Services operations. As well as expanding their Foodbank operations, they are planning on commencing other services. Once those programs have been decided on, a roll-out schedule for them will be worked out.
As a result of this decision, the thrift store will be closed down as of its final day Thursday June 30th or until stock lasts. Donations for the thrift store will no longer be accepted as of tomorrow May 25th. The space that is currently used by the Thrift Store will be reconfigured and the current Foodbank operations will continue as they have been. Any questions call 519-245-5398.
