Camp Kee-Mo-Kee in Komoka has received a grant of over $49,000 from Ontario’s Community Building Fund – Operating Stream. The grant will help re-open the camp with full operations and expand programs for its campers and community announced this week by Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton. Thanks to this grant, the camp will be able to hire full-time year-round staff to work on program development and community engagement. Campers will have the opportunity to experience new programs at the camp.
“I am very happy that Camp Kee-Mo-Kee is the recipient of a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation,” said Monte McNaughton MPP. “The resource that is provided in our community for young people to experience the wonders of nature, the exhilaration of camping life, and the bonds of fellowship is beyond measure.”
“The Ontario Trillium Foundation’s support is invaluable as the camp moves towards a more sustainable business model that can withstand unexpected challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Jill Hodgins, Camp Kee-Mo-Kee Executive Director. “We have already seen the positive impact of these funds through new off-season programming and community engagement. Furthermore, this grant makes it possible to innovate existing programs as we plan for our peak operating season.”
Camp Kee-Mo-Kee is committed to cultivating an inclusive community open to all ages and circumstances, where opportunities are provided for physical, emotional, and personal growth and development within a camping environment.
