Strathroy-Caradoc Fire Department station 1 responded to a structure fire on Drury Lane just before 10pm on Wednesday night arriving to a home that was heavily involved on 3 sides and some explosions happening. All three stations responded to the scene and once it was determined that everyone had escaped and that the neighbouring property was evacuated as well, fire crews put of the blaze and the utility company was called in to cut off some power concerns. 35 firefighters got the fire under control less than an hour after the first call rang out. In total there was damage to the original structure in addition to some extension damage to the neighboring property and a vehicle in the driveway. The estimate of damage is $600,000 and the cause of the fire was determined to be careless discarding of smoking materials.
