Neat Cannabis in Komoka have partnered up with a few companies to create the One Hive Project. One Hive is an initiative to save the bees, one hive at a time, with the hope that other cannabis growers and dispensers as well as other general retailers and businesses join in.
Leeanna Newton, Brand Director says Neat is a local business being created by people who were born and raised in the area, but being a new company, they still need to show the people of Komoka that they are local and here for them. One way they wanted to do that was to give back to the community in an eco-way, which is how One Hive came to be.
In partnership with Buzz Cannabis, who have a vision to save the bees, the idea of each area having one hive, instead of multiple hives in one area, it will help the pollinators keep the areas thriving, and in turn with each hive, they can produce about 40 pounds of honey which will also go right back into the community.
They are only having Honey Bees, which are the least likely to sting, and least likely to bug people, but they do keep an Epipen on site just in case.
