Great news for the residents of North Middlesex. On Thursday, MPP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex Monte McNaughton announced that the Government of Ontario, in partnership with the Government of Canada, is repairing the West McGillivray Public Works Building. McNaughton says “Our local partners have been crucial in our fight against COVID-19. Today’s investment will ensure our municipal infrastructure is safe and reliable for years to come.”
This $100,000 investment will involve new flooring, drywall, plumbing, insulation, and relocating the staff lunchroom to accommodate social distancing.
North Middlesex Mayor Brian Ropp says “We are pleased to have received this grant on behalf of the Ontario Government to help renovate the office spaces and our common areas in our municipal Public Works Garage. This renovation will also help reduce heating costs through insulation upgrades. We look forward to the completion of this project to further improve work conditions (including improvements in response to COVID) for our hard-working Public Works staff.”
This investment is being made through the COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, a cost-shared, application-based infrastructure funding opportunity.
