The Township of Warwick Emergency Control Group met this afternoon via teleconference, Sunday, March 15, at 2:30 p.m. to review the current state of COVID-19 and updates from the province and Public Health. For the most up to date information, please visit the Lambton Public Health website or the Province of Ontario website.
The Control Group will be meeting via teleconference at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020 and will continue to meet on a regular basis for the foreseeable future to review the current state of events. The Control Group has directed the activation of the Township’s Emergency Control Plan; a declaration of a state of emergency has not formally been made, however discussions about this will be taking place over the coming week.
Currently, the following closures and restrictions at Township facilities are going to be put in place, effective Monday, March 15, 2020:
• The Watford Arena, Centennial Hall and the Warwick Community Centre will all be closed until further notice. All ice and facility rentals are cancelled.
• The Warwick Township Office will be closed and is tentatively planned to reopen on Wednesday, March 18th.
Residents are encouraged to use the Township’s online services for payment of tax and water bills, if possible. There is also has an outdoor drop box just outside of the door of the Township Office, for your convenience for submission of non-cash payments.
“While this is a very serious and fast spreading virus, we can slow it down,” said Mayor Jackie Rombouts. “We are doing what we feel is necessary to decrease the spread of the illness and I am confident that the people of Warwick Township will want to do everything in their power to protect our most vulnerable people.”
