“There have been no reported cases of COVID-19 (also referred to as the coronavirus) in our community. There have also been no reported cases of community transmission in the region. Our hospital is well prepared in the event the situation changes.
The Middlesex-London Health Unit is doing an excellent job leading the response to this event on behalf of all residents of Middlesex County. I urge you to visit the websites below for reliable and timely information. I sympathize with those who have had to make changes to much anticipated March Break family plans, however, the broader public interest requires us to follow the direction of public health officials.
While this is a very serious and fluid global situation it is very important for each of us to remain calm and to share reliable public health information with those who might be panicked, anxious, or consumed by social media. Practice good hygiene, self isolate if you are feeling unwell, avoid unnecessary travel to those areas identified by the federal government, and take this opportunity to spend time at home with loved ones.
I want to offer my deepest thanks to our municipal employees and others in public service who are committed to maintaining infrastructure, public safety, and public health. Our employees are monitoring the situation constantly and making decisions about public and employee safety. At this challenging time we should extend special appreciation to those who are entrusted with the health and safety of our community and our families.”
