Another hat has been thrown in the ring for the MP seat for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex. Rob Lalande has lived in the riding for over 20 years but grew up in Nova Scotia. He returned home after his time in the army, then came over to Ontario when he found work and eventually settled in the riding. Lalande is the candidate for the Veterans Coalition Party of Canada. It’s his first crack at politics, and the candidate says there are a number of things on the VCP platform.
He said when it comes to campaigning, reaching as many people as possible is his goal, but it does come with some challenges.
He says they’re a small party starting out but Lalande says the first thing they’d do in office is cut MP salaries by 20%, and reduce “extravagant spending.” They’d also remove the carbon tax, noting there’s better ways to reduce emissions. Randy Joy is the party’s leader. The riding also has Lianne Rood running for the Conservatives, Jesse McCormick for the Liberals, Anthony Li for the Green party, Dylan McLay for the NDP, and Bria Atkins for the People’s Party of Canada.
