A few members from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers were at Strathroy-Caradoc council Monday night to make their case as the union seeks municipalities support in their efforts to expand what rural post offices do in a community. Ontario Region Campaign Coordinator Derek Richmond presented to council, seeking a letter of support from municipal councils will inform the federal government their desire to bring more to rural areas. Richmond spoke to myFM after the presentation and outlined a number of things the union wants to see happen to postal offices.
He adds it doesn’t matter which government will be in power after the federal election, because the need for something like this is there, and that’s something he hopes translates across all parties. Strathroy-Caradoc council directed staff to gather further information before they decide to support the union or not.
