Strathroy’s Sleepy Hollow Railway is back. The long-standing tradition took a bit of a sabbatical for the retirement of a long-time volunteer and difficulty finding parts to make needed repairs which put the railway on hold for about 18 months. It moved from Alexandra Park in 2014 to the Fairgrounds Recreation Complex beside the Aquatic Park because of some flooding issues. Councilor Marie Baker says it was one of their goals to get the train back on track.
There will be a grand re-opening sometime in August, but the initial dates the train will be operating are 1 to 6 p.m. on July 16th, 19th, 23rd, and 26th. The cost to ride the train is donation only. Baker said they didn’t want to move the train to the fairgrounds five years ago but they’re glad they did and people of all ages love to ride it.
