Rural households across the province are one step closer to lower heating bills, following the second reading of the Access to Natural Gas Act.
In Southwestern Ontario, an estimated 40% of households do not have access to natural gas. Using natural gas for heat can save a residential customer, on average, between $800 and $2500 a year. Monte McNaughton the MPP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex and Minister of Infrastructure says this is good news for families and businesses.
McNaughton says if passed, Bill 32 would allow the government to create a new natural gas program encouraging private gas distributors to partner with communities to develop projects, expanding access to affordable and efficient natural gas.
