This is the good daylight savings time where you hopefully enjoyed the extra hour of sleep, but it's also a good time for a reminder by the Strathroy-Caradoc Fire Department. November 1st through the 7th is Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week, and Fire Chief Brian George says daylight savings time is a helpful reminder for people to check their smoke and CO alarms.

George said CO is a silent killer, and the only way to detect it is with the alarms. He added each home should have one CO alarm placed right outside your bedroom, and additional ones if there are bedrooms on different floors.
CO is produced through different types of gas fires, which makes it a more prominent threat during the cold and winter months.
