Strathroy-Caradoc police say last week someone called a 78-year-old Strathroy resident, claiming to be from a local bank. They told the victim that someone had taken $750 from her account and they needed her banking information, to investigate the matter. The resident provided the information, only to find out later it was a scam. Police say the fraudsters later called back apologizing, and offering to reimburse the woman if she provided her new banking information, which she refused. The Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service is warning that no information should ever be given over the telephone from an unsolicited call, and to hang up and call your local branch.
