Entegrus Powerlines is warning residents about a recent phone scam involving people claiming to be from the company. The scam occurs when the scammer threatens to disconnect their service immediately if payment is not given right away. Entegrus claims that both their commercial and residential customers have been impacted by the scam. Director of Conservation and Communications Margaret Rodd says that Entegrus does not advise that you give in to the scammer's claim.
Rodd says that Entegrus' protocols for collecting bill payments does not involve threatening immediate disconnection of service. If you feel you are victim to a scam you're encouraged to report it to the Strathroy-Caradoc Police or the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre.
