SEX-ED CURRICULM GETS HEALTHCARE WORKER SUPPORT
8/9/2018 3:10:05 PM

On Tuesday NDP Leader Andrea Horwath delivered a petition signed by nearly 1800 healthcare workers.

The petition asked the Progressive Conservative government to stop plans to repeal and replace Ontario's modernized sex-ed curriculum.

The group of healthcare workers say that repealing the curriculum will put the safety and mental health of children at risk by providing outdated information.

Huron-Bruce MPP and Minister of Education Lisa Thompson told myFM recently that teachers will be using the 2014 curriculum but there will be flexibility for teachers to touch on social issues of today.

The Progressive Conservatives made a campaign promise to do public consultations as they insist tens of thousands of parents were not properly consulted on the 2015 curriculum.

myFM has reached out to Lisa Thompson but she has been unavailable to comment.
