8/7/2018 10:37:42 AM

Minister of Education Lisa Thompson has made a few headlines in the past week.

It started when the government decided to axe the current sex-ed curriculum in Ontario and replace it with the old one from 1998.

She came up again when the government announced that a 100 million dollar fund meant for school upgrades was going to be cut because of the cancellation of the cap and trade program.

myFM caught up with Thompson who says that the cut to the fund does not mean schools are in danger of being closed.

Thompson adds that the fund in question was specifically meant for environmentally friendly upgrades for schools like lights and special insulation, but money for critical repairs is still available.

She adds that conversations with school boards across the province have already begun, and they hope to have a more clear picture of what public schools require by the Fall fo this year.
