Some Police services across the province are looking to change the way that they charge people for police record checks. Many of the changes are being done because the fee structure they have set up now isn't necessarily fair or compatible with market demand. This is because police charge two different rates for volunteers or employees, but most volunteer checks are vulnerable sector checks that cost the department more resources to complete. Strathroy-Caradoc Police Chief Mark Campbell says that in most cases, people usually come looking for vulnerable sector checks.

Campbell adds that currently, in his opinion, the local police department has done a good job of having a fee structure that keep prices reasonable, but also doesn't put the department's budget in the red. Here locally, it costs $42 for employment checks, and $16 for a volunteer check.
