TEACHERS GETTING TOGETHER TO HELP WITH GRADE ONE TRANSITION
7/11/2018 6:55:00 AM

From July 10th to the 12th, the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario is hosting workshops in London for all members to come and learn how they can better teach kids coming from kindergarten and going into grade one. Tara Neate is a learning resource teacher and is also presenting some of these workshops and says the jump from Kindergarten to Grade 1 is a big one, and it's the perfect time for teachers to find ways to help kids learn how to learn.

Neate emphasized that since the rise of handheld technology and full day kindergarten, the ways elementary students learn has changed. She adds that from a parenting perspective, people should always keep in touch with their children's teachers, and try to be more engaging at home.
Neate says that reading with kids every night is a tried and true way of helping them learn.
