Parkhouse Drive fire. Strathroy-Caradoc fire crews responded to a residential Structure Fire near Mount Brydges over the weekend. Chief Brian George tells us that upon arrival heavy smoke was seen in several areas of the home. An initial response of Mount Brydges and Melbourne stations was required and a third station was requested for additional staffing on scene. The fire crews did an excellent job in combating the fire however a significant amount of damage was done before the fire was reported by a neighbor and an off duty firefighter who noticed the smell of smoke in the air. No residents were home at the time, unfortunately two family pets perished in the fire. There were no injuries to the firefighters who responded to the fire. The cause of the fire has not been determined as of yet and damage loss is estimated at $325,000 to the structure and contents.
