LOCAL RIDING LIBERAL PRESIDENT CHIMES IN ON PROVINCIAL BUDGET 4/12/2018 7:59:15 AM
A large Ontario Liberal Budget was unveiled recently with some highlights including free pre-school child care, a drug and dental program, $2.1 billion over four years for mental health and addiction services and $16 billion over 10 years for new and improved schools. President of the Lambton-Kent-Middlesex Liberal Association Mike Radan says it's not actually money being simply tossed out there.
Some of the highlights include free pre-school childcare starting in 2020 for kids 2.5 years old, free pharmacare for seniors, and $800 million plus to launch the Ontario Drug and Dental Program which will cover up to 80 percent of eligible drug and dental expenses.
Other big-ticket items include: $300 million over three years for long-term care, $2.1 billion over four years for mental health and addiction services, $19 billion over 10 years for over 40 major hospital projects, $500 million over three years to expand broadband in rural and northern communities and $16 billion over 10 years for new and improved schools.
