HEALTH UNIT CEO CONFUSED AT COUNTY'S INTENTIONS IN POTENTIAL MOVE TO CITI PLAZA 3/12/2018 8:30:33 AM
As we know the Middlesex-London Health Unit is seeking judicial review on whether it can go ahead with a planned move from its King Street location to a nearly 6,500 square-metre space at nearby Citi Plaza, a proposal county council rejected a day earlier in a 6-4 vote. County Council members Marcel Meyer, Kurtis Smith and Strathroy-Caradoc Mayor Joanne Vanderheyden are on the Health Unit's board. Meyer and Smith voted no to the move and Vanderheyden voted yes, we talked with Medical Officer of Health and CEO at the Health Unit Dr. Chris Mackie who says this whole thing is a little confusing based on what the County had done prior.
The health agency is asking a judge to decide whether it can proceed under the rules set out in Ontario's Health Protection and Promotion Act.
