SHIPLEY CHIMES IN ON NATIONAL ANTHEM LYRIC CHANGE 2/7/2018 6:58:53 AM
We are one formality away from having a new national anthem. The song is still O'Canada, but Parliament has changed the lyrics from "In all thy sons command" to a more, gender neutral, "In all of us command". MP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex Bev Shipley says that he feels this change wasn't needed.
Shipley adds that he didn't vote for the change, but the law is the law, and we'll have to deal with it. The passage of the lyric change technically needs Royal Assent from Canada's Governor General, but it won't be long until our kids are singing the original version of O'Canada.
