The numbers are in from the recent OPP Festive RIDE Campaign specifically for Middlesex and Lambton Counties. In Middlesex, Police say from November 24th to January 2nd they charged 10 people with Warn Range Suspensions, 11 people facing Impaired Driving, Over 80 Milligrams or Refusal Charges, 18 for Impaired Driving, over a stretch where 109 RIDE programs were conducted. Middlesex County OPP say they will continue to aggressively combat alcohol and illicit drug impaired driving offences by way of increased enforcement, specialized training and public awareness and engagement. In Lambton County more than 189 R.I.D.E. checks were completed with OPP issuing 11 drivers licence suspensions as a result of drivers providing breath samples within the warn range and laid 12 criminal charges in relation to impaired driving. So, 8% of all drivers checked during this time period had their drivers licences temporarily suspended and or charged criminally for impaired driving. Police said with these stats, for every 100 drivers you encounter while driving, 8 of them shouldn't be behind the wheel.
