OPP REMIND RESIDENTS: LOCK IT OR LOSE IT
8/9/2017 10:52:46 AM

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is plugging the message: "Lock it or lose it."

Police want to remind everyone to protect their property and valuables from thieves. Over the August long weekend, there were a number of vehicles and properties that fell victim to property crime. Some tips include: always locking vehicle doors when parking, even if you're only going to be a few minutes, remove valuables or hide them and roll up vehicle windows. Police say anyone who has a garage should use it to store their vehicle, but they add it is still important to lock the vehicle and the garage door. If you don't have a garage, owners should park in a well-lit area with lots of traffic. Police say the warning extends to homes and properties. All doors, whether it be sheds or homes should always be locked and sensor lighting makes a big difference. Police say any suspicious activity should be reported to Middlesex OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
