MEETING FOR RURAL TRANSPORTATION SERVICE ON WEDNESDAY
8/9/2017 10:45:09 AM

The Grand Bend and Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the possibility of a rural transportation service that could connect surrounding municipalities.

President of the Grand Bend and Area Chamber of Commerce, Glen Baillie, tells myFM that the area is a whole bunch of small rural towns and those who cannot drive get isolated.

Baillee explains no single municipality has the capacity to put together a transit service but with collaboration, it could become a reality.

The model that the Grand Bend Chamber is using comes from Norfolk County and the person in charge of setting that system up will be in attendance as a guest speaker at the Grand Bend meeting.

The meeting is being held at the Grand Bend Legion at 2:30pm.

Baillee says that ideally if all area municipalities agree, the transportation service could see service in Lambton Shores, South Huron, Bluewater and North Middlesex.
