TWO OFFICERS CHARGED IN ONEIDA WOMAN'S DEATH

The Special Investigations Unit has concluded an investigation into the death of a women from Oneida Nation of the Thames, and now two police officers are facing charges. The SIU announced Thursday that Ontario Provincial Police Constable Mark McKillop and London Police Constable Nicholas Doering have been charged with criminal negligence causing death and failing to provide the necessaries of life. The charges stem from an incident in London's east end on September 7th 2016, where police responded to reports of a women obstructing traffic. It was then that 39-year-old Debra Chrisjohn from Oneida Nation of the Thames was arrested for an outstanding warrant, and when paramedics were taking her to the hospital, she was pronounced dead an hour later, and the cause of her death has not been released. Both officers are currently still on active duty. The SIU is brought in to investigate incidents involving police where a death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault have occurred.
