As the leaves begin to come into season, and residents may be raking up dead leaves and grass on their lawns from the winter, Strathroy-Caradoc Fire Chief, Brian George says it's important to call in controlled burns in town and in the rural areas of the county. George says there is a procedure and by-law that needs to be followed so fire trucks don't respond to fires when it isn't necessary.

George adds those charges and invoices can be a hefty cost. He says in recent years residents have been doing a good job of calling in their fires and George says he would like to see that continue.
