It is Fraud Prevention Month and today we talk Romance Scams as Police ask you to be aware for romance scammers who will be after more than just your heart. Last year there were over 1000 complaints across the country involving romance fraud with a combined financial loss of over $13 million. OPP Media Relations Officer Jamie Stanley says scammers prey on vulnerable victims and will send multiple emails to earn trust and love.

Stanley says that scammers usually tell victims to not mention to other people that they are sending money and he says Western Union or Money Gram are common ways that scammers acquire money from people they claim to love.
