Family Day is Monday but the Pinery Provincial Park just outside of Grand Bend has lots going on all weekend including the visitor centre being open Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10 AM until 5 PM. Natural Heritage Education Group Leader at the Pinery, Alida Lemieux says that there will be a number of programs and activities at the centre throughout the weekend including a naturalist who will be talking about animals, nature films and even a scavenger hunt. Lemieux says the fun continues with a key event Saturday night followed by more great events on Monday.
Lemieux says that visiting a park with the family is a chance to make last memories any time of the year, adding that it is important for Pinery to offer family programming to celebrate family day and encourage winter visitors. The cost to come to the Pinery is $17 per vehicle with discount rates for seniors or people with disabilities but all programs are free of charge.
More information and a full schedule of events can be found at www.pinerypark.on.ca and by clicking on the educational programs tab or call the visitors centre on the weekend at 519-243-8574.
