MAPLES FOR VIMY PROJECT NEEDS SUPPORT
2/16/2017 7:11:21 AM

A very special, unique and once in a lifetime trip project is fundraising right now to send 9 members of our local Strathroy scouting group March 29th to join 45 scouts and guides from the London area to travel to Vimy Ridge to honour all veterans, and help celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. The project is called Maples for Vimy as the scouts will be planting 500 maple trees as living memorials of honour at Vimy Ridge. Director of the Maples For Vimy Project Paul Gagnon says this is a huge opportunity and a special tree planting will be a part of it.

These planting sites are located in and around the towns and villages where Canadian soldiers were deployed for months as they prepared for the coming battle. These Legacy plantings will take place in and around Canadian National War Memorial and significant sites around Vimy. For more information, and/or to make a donation to help these young scouts and guides with trip costs, please visit www.maplesforvimy.com.
