POLICE LOOKING FOR SUSPECTS AFTER OFFICER DRAGGED BY CAR

An OPP officer is recovering after being dragged by a suspect vehicle. Just after midnight last night, (aug18) police stopped a vehicle for going the wrong way on Exeter road towards the 401. The SUV was directed to a nearby parking lot for further investigation.

There's a new face at the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation and he comes into a brand new position. Komoka resident Shaun McGill is the newest employee at the foundation as the new Manager of Communications and Public Relations and he comes from plenty of experience.

ROCKETS MAIN CAMP OPENS THIS WEEKEND

If you miss the game of hockey, you'll be able to get your fill this weekend at the Gemini Sportsplex as the Strathroy Rockets open up their main camp. General Manager Mike Bondy says the camp will have some great competition as they are looking to fill some spots on the roster.

3RD MELBOURNE HOG STOMP STARTS TONIGHT

The 3rd annual Melbourne Hog Stomp event is taking place this weekend beginning tonight at 7 PM at the Melbourne Fair Grounds. Vice President of the Melbourne Agricultural Society Crystal Elliott says tonight is going to be lots of fun. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the gate.

STRATHROY MCDONALDS BIRTHDAY SUCCESS

It was a celebration coast to coast Wednesday as McDonalds celebrated 50 years in Canada. The chain of more than 1,400 stores across the country opened its first restaurant on August 16th in 1967 in British Columbia. On Wednesday classic burgers were $0.67 and $0.50 extra for cheese.

MUNICIPALITY CREATES COMMUNITY SERVICES FOLLOWING DEPARTMENTAL AMALGAMATION

The Municipality of Strathroy - Caradoc will be welcoming a new department to the community. It was recently announced that the department responsible for the delivery of community and recreation services will be making a few changes after the departure of personnel.
