Melrose residents should expect to see the fire department at their door this evening as the Middlesex Centre Fire Service will be commencing a door to door After the Fire Program. The program is coming to the area following a recent $1.5 million residential fire that occurred on January 8th.

An Amber alert is spreading across Ontario quickly this morning coming from Peel Regional Police regarding an abducted child. Police are searching for 15-year-old Alyssa Langille, described as white, 5 foot 2 inches tall, with blond hair and blue eyes.

Additional charges have been laid against a nurse accused of killing seniors in southwestern Ontario long-term care homes. Elizabeth Wettlaufer was facing eight counts of first-degree murder charges in the deaths of residents at nursing homes in Woodstock and London.

Christmas is over but if you still have your Christmas tree, you can dispose of it this Saturday at the Strathroy transfer station on Pike Side Road. Director of Building and Waste Services, Matthew Stephenson says the trees will be recycled for later use.
