As we know, the Ontario budget was released on Thursday. Some highlights of the budget include $465 million a year in a pharmacare program, free abortion pills, an OSAP initiative that would see lenders not owing anything until they make $35 thousand a year, career planning and affordable housing.

PLANTING SEASON CAREFUL WITH FARM VEHICLES ON ROAD

With the sun and warmer temperatures now here to stay that means area farmers can get to work. Planting season has begun and will remain until the end of June. During this time you will notice an increased number of large farming equipment on the road as they go from field to field.

402 COLLISION

402 collision. On Wednesday around 9:30am, OPP responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 402 in the Wyoming area. Emergency responding units found a car and marked safety vehicle in the passing lane of the Highway. Both with significant damage.

MIDDLESEX COUNTY TOURISM SYMPOSIUM

Coming up in May is the 2nd annual Middlesex County Tourism Symposium. Last year's Upper Tier Tourism Symposium drew 50 to 60 tourism providers and Coordinator Cara Finn tells myFM this year's Symposium's theme is the Power of Partnering.

9TH ANNUAL DREW DOWNER GOLF TOURNAMENT COMING IN JUNE

The 9th annual Drew Downer Golf Tournament is taking place on Saturday June 10th at Caradoc Sands Golf Club in Strathroy. The tournament in support of the Mount Brydges Bulldogs is in memory of former Bulldogs Assistant Coach Drew Downer. The tournament usually raises around $4000 for the team.

COUNTY AMBULANCE NUMBERS DISCUSSED AT MIDDLESEX COUNCIL

Middlesex County Council meeting Tuesday and one of the topics of discussion was numbers from EMS and Ambulance surveys in terms of response times over the last 2 years from 2015. Strathroy-Caradoc Mayor Joanne Vanderheyden says our Paramedics are doing a great job.

OPP EASTER WEEKEND ROAD NUMBERS

Leading into the Easter Long Weekend, OPP reported a 20 year low in seatbelt related fatalities province wide, and there were hopes that figure would hold true as they held a Seat Belt Campaign over the Easter Long Weekend.

CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION

Criminal investigation. On Wednesday around 2:30pm the Oneida Nation of the Thames Police, assisted by the OPP responded to a crime against persons call on Walker Road that originated in the City of London. Walker Road was closed but was re-opened at approximately 9:30 p.m.

GRAND BEND BOARDWALK COSMETIC CHANGES

The beach at Grand Bend may look a little different this year. The Municipality of Lambton Shores has decided to update the boardwalk by replacing from the pier to the north of the condo buildings with concrete. Mayor Bill Weber explains why the Municipality made the decision.
